Story

We are a second generation, family-owned winery that farms two exceptional vineyards and produces expressive, complex and age-worthy wines. We believe that wine and food are best enjoyed together, and offer both when you visit our estate. We believe in creating a business that can last generations, and keep sustainability in mind when making decisions.

History

We’re over 20 years into our farming and winemaking journey. Richard Niner discovered Paso Robles in the 1990s and immediately fell in love with the land and the people. In both he saw potential to compete with premier wine regions around the world. He purchased his first vineyard in 2001 and added Heart Hill Vineyard in 2003. That year marked our first vintage: a small bottling of Bordeaux wines. The tasting room and winery opened in Spring of 2010 and Richard purchased Jespersen Ranch in 2012. In 2013 his son Andy took over the business with the goal of continuing his Dad’s legacy.

Estate Vineyards

We’ve been farming vineyards and making wine for over 20 years. We currently farm two distinct sites. At Heart Hill Vineyard in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles we grow rich and layered varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah. At our coastal Jespersen Ranch in the Edna Valley we farm expressive, complex wines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Albarino and Grenache.

Food & Wine

As a family and team, we believe that the best moments in life happen when enjoying wine and food. This belief led us to opening one of the first winery restaurants in Paso Robles in 2014. We now offer inspired, seasonal dishes to complement our tasting flights. We grow many ingredients in our on-site Chef’s Garden

Sustainability

Our tasting room and winery are LEED Silver Certified and solar powered. In the vineyard we pay attention to our soil health, make our own compost and don’t use herbicides. All our vineyards are SIP Certified and in 2016 we became the first to achieve “Winery” SIP Certification for our state-of-the-art winery design. We recycle our wastewater for vineyard irrigation and have a rainwater recapture system in place to help save even more. In 2023 we were also the recipient of the California Green Medal Award for Business.
