In 2021 we harvested our Grenache Blanc at the beginning of October, a few weeks later than usual. The long, cool growing season led to perfectly balanced and vibrant fruit. We whole cluster pressed the grapes and fermented them in French oak puncheons. After fermentation, the wine was transferred to an 800-gallon foudre to age for 10 months before bottling in August of 2022. The result is a rich, evolved wine. A clean minerality is balanced by richer flavors of mandarin, honey and toasted graham cracker. Drink now through 2028. $55
The extreme coastal environment of Edna Valley produces a remarkable Grenache. It’s one of the least common grape varieties planted in the cool, narrow valley but we farm nine acres at Jespersen Ranch. To bolster concentration and color, we farm our Grenache at very low quantities by taking the vines down to one cluster per shoot. In 2019 we experimented with carbonic fermentation, foot stomping and concrete to craft this gorgeous wine and the result was spectacular. $65
This wine comes from historic, head-trained Zinfandel vines that we inherited when we purchased the property adjacent to Heart Hill Vineyard in 2016. They originally came from the Ueberroth vineyard on the Westside of Paso Robles, which was one of the first vineyards in the area. We harvested the grapes on September 25th and fermented them in two stainless-steel tanks, before aging the wine in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels for 16 months. This is a lighter, elegant style of Zinfandel with notes of rhubarb and cranberry, complimented by spiced barrel notes. Drink now through 2026. $45
In 2019 we had the opportunity to co-ferment Malbec with Cabernet Sauvignon, combining the cherry flavor of the Malbec with some darker tones of the Cabernet Sauvignon. We hand-sorted, destemmed and gravity-fed the grapes into stainless steel tanks, where the fruit fermented for 10-12 days at higher temperatures. This wine was aged in standard oak barrels for 20 months, 45% of which were new French Oak, adding notes of clove, vanilla and brown sugar. $50
This wine is made from a combination of our oldest block of Cabernet Sauvignon at Bootjack Ranch and our two newest blocks. Block 10, our oldest plantings, produces a vibrant wine with bright red fruit characteristics. The newer plantings, Blocks 16 & 9, have dark fruit, structure and depth. After primary fermentation, the three blocks were blended together to age in oak barrels, 37% of which were new. The finished wine is complex and fresh, with flavors of dark cherry, rosemary and vanilla finished with elegant, refined tannins. Drink now through 2026. $75
