#1 Reserve Chardonnay 2020 Jespersen Ranch
The 2020 Reserve Chardonnay represents the best that comes from Jespersen Ranch. We hand-harvested the grapes, whole-cluster pressed and placed the juice into a stainless-steel tank. The next day we transferred the juice to French oak barrels for fermentation. 40% of the lots went through fermentation natively and the wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation. We stirred the lees periodically to develop texture and richness. We aged the wine for a total of 14 months in French Oak. The resulting wine has a beautifully rich and creamy mouthfeel with lemon, apple pie and vanilla qualities. $85
#2 Grenache 2020 Jespersen Ranch
We farm nine acres of Grenache at Jespersen Ranch, where the coastal influence produces a beautiful expression of the varietal. In 2020, we hand-harvested our Grenache and fermented them in nine different stainless-steel tanks. This small lot approach gave us the ability to use a variety of winemaking techniques to create layers that complement the characteristics of Grenache. We kept the percentage of new French oak barrels low (21%) to focus on bright fruit flavors and preserve freshness. The result is a lively and vibrant wine with hints of strawberry, white pepper and black tea. $60
#3 Zinfandel 2020 Paso Robles
This wine comes from historic, head-trained Zinfandel vines that we inherited when we purchased the property adjacent to Heart Hill Vineyard in 2016. They originally came from the Ueberroth vineyard on the Westside of Paso Robles, which was one of the first vineyards in the area. We harvested the grapes on September 25th and fermented them in two stainless-steel tanks, before aging the wine in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels for 16 months. This is a lighter, elegant style of Zinfandel with notes of rhubarb and cranberry, complimented by spiced barrel notes. $50
#4 Reserve Syrah 2018 Heart Hill Vineyard
Heart Hill Vineyard Syrah is revered for its beautiful dark fruit flavors, layered complexity and powerful tannins. We fermented the grapes in small, stainless steel tanks and half went through native fermentation. We transferred 100% free-run juice, admired for its pure and powerful flavors, and aged the wine in French Oak barrels for 19 months. The 2018 vintage has flavors of black cherry, mulling spices and caramelized oak. $85
#5 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Bootjack Ranch
This wine is made from a combination of our oldest block of Cabernet Sauvignon at Bootjack Ranch and our two newest blocks. Block 10, our oldest plantings, produces a vibrant wine with bright red fruit characteristics. The newer plantings, Blocks 16 & 9, have dark fruit, structure and depth. After primary fermentation, the three blocks were blended together to age in oak barrels, 37% of which were new. The finished wine is complex and fresh, with flavors of dark cherry, rosemary and vanilla finished with elegant, refined tannins. $95
