2014 Reserve Super Paso

bootjack ranch

56% Sangiovese, 27% Barbera, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 1%Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine pays homage to the Super Tuscan winemakers who scorned convention in order to create unique blends. Each year we use our Italian varietals to build the best wine possible using any renegade grape we think would help. Italian in heritage, the 2014 Super Paso blend has just enough of a cowboy influence to keep it grounded in Paso Robles with dark plum notes outlining notes of dried tea, forest floor and spices.

2014 reserve Grenache

jespersen ranch

90% Grenache, 10% Syrah

The 2014 vintage was nearly perfect for growing Grenache at Jespersen Ranch. Even temperatures throughout the growing season lead to an unusually long hang-time and great flavor development. The result was a perfect example of a cool-climate Grenache with notes of fresh raspberry, graphite and mocha. The 10% infusion of inky Syrah from an adjacent vineyard block at Jespersen Ranch added fine-grained tannin and dark cocoa powder notes. $50

2014 Reserve Marsanne

Heart Hill Vineyard

75% Marsanne, 25% Grenache Blanc

Experiments in the cellar can be risky, but this one gave way to brilliance. We aged this wine an additional year in a large-format, new French oak barrel and loved the result. The wine gained complexity and a kiss of honey on the palate without losing the allure of bright fruit it had in its youth. Aromas of toasted marshmallows and marmalade jump out of the glass and lead into a palate redolent with freshly squeezed Meyer Lemon and creme. $30
