2020 Pinot Noir Rosé

2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Edna Valley

We farm Sauvignon Blanc at Jespersen Ranch, just four miles from the ocean. After an early morning hand-harvest, we lightly whole-cluster pressed the grapes. We fermented the wine in a combination of stainless steel tanks and neutral puncheon barrels, which are about twice the size of standard barrels. The wine was aged in the same vessels. It’s aromatically stunning, with ripe mandarin and pineapple aromatics. The palate is bright and tropical and outlined with a refreshing, citrus acidity.

2020 Pinot Noir Rosé

2020 Albarino, Edna Valley

Our three acres of Albariño vines thrive in the coastal environment and derive their character from the rolling banks of coastal fog in the morning and ocean breezes in the afternoon. After an early morning hand-harvest on September 16th, we lightly pressed our Albariño grapes. We fermented 80% of the wine in stainless steel tanks, and 20% in a concrete tank. The wine was then aged in the same vessels. The result is a delightfully fresh and dry wine. White nectarine, lime and citrus floral aromatics with a saline acidity are all reminiscent of the site’s coastal influence.

2020 Pinot Noir Rosé

2020 Pinot Noir Rosé, Edna Valley

We farm Pinot Noir at Jespersen Ranch, just four miles from the ocean. In 2020 we harvested a block of Pinot Noir on August 26th for our Rose program. We lightly whole-cluster pressed 60% of the grapes, and 40% of the grapes were destemmed and soaked for 5 hours to extract some color. The result is a lively, fresh and lightly hued Rosé! A fantastic combination of strawberry and rose petal aromatics are followed by bright lime and green apple flavors on the palate. And at just 12.8%, it’s a quintessential summer sipper.

2019 Pinot Noir

2019 Pinot Noir, Edna valley

We farm seven different Pinot Noir clones planted across fourteen different blocks at Jespersen Ranch. This diversity in clones and orientation allows us to build a complex, layered single-vineyard wine. All the grapes are hand harvested and fermented in small, open-top stainless steel tanks in our Craft Winery located behind the tasting room. About 1/3 of the fermentations included a whole-cluster component, which adds a delicate tannin structure, spice and length to the wine. The wine was aged for 10 months in a mix of new and once-filled neutral French Oak barrels. The 2019 Pinot Noir is elegant, with a balance of red and darker, brambly fruit flavors. Black tea and brushy chaparral flavors keep it grounded in the coastal site it comes from.

2018 Grenache, Edna Valley

2018 grenache, edna valley

We farm 9 acres of Grenache at Jespersen Ranch and are able to make a small amount of wine each year. The cooler climate can be a challenge as Grenache is a notorious late ripener and late. In 2018 we were graced with perfect Fall weather and harvested at peak ripeness in last October and early November. The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in closed-top stainless steel tanks. A small amount of Jespersen Ranch Syrah was added to the tank as a co-ferment, adding color and structure. The wine was aged in French Oak barrels for 16 months and bottled unfiltered.

2018 Syrah, Paso Robles

2018 syrah, paso robles

We farm 10 acres of Syrah at Heart Hill Vineyard. We  hand-harvested and de-stemmed the grapes, saving about 20% of the stems. The berries were lightly crushed and put into stainless steel tanks for a long and slow fermentation. We sun-dried the stems for a few days and then incorporated them back into the tanks. This technique lends an interesting layer of spice to the fresh fruit flavors that Syrah is renowned for. The wine was aged in a variety of French Oak barrels for 21 months before being bottled. Early Maturity - Decant to drink now or age 5+ years.

2020 Pinot Noir Rosé

2018 Reserve Silhouette du Coeur, Heart Hill Vineyard

The name “Silhouette du Coeur” translates from French to “Silhouette of the Heart,” respecting the fact that our Marsanne, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc grow on different edges of Heart Hill Vineyard. This wine celebrates the bright and mineral nature of Grenache Blanc, accented with rich Roussanne and floral Marsanne. We aged the blend together in an 800L French Oak Cask to develop the flavors cohesively. The result is white wine with a honeyed texture and lots of acidity. The time spent in the French Oak Case enhanced these drink now or hold to age for 5+ years.

2018 Reserve Square Root

2018 Reserve square root, Heart Hill Vineyard

Square Root is our Reserve “GSM” from Heart Hill Vineyard and is crafted to be a bold, ageworthy blend. It always features Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre and the 2018 was a fantastic vintage for all three grapes. The Syrah was dark and spicy; the Grenache had finesse and beautiful red fruit flavors; the Mourvèdre was concentrated and earthy. Together they create a harmonious blend. Aged 19 months in 52% new French Oak barrels. Early Maturity - drink now or age 5+ years.

2018 Reserve Twisted Spur

2018 Reserve twisted spur, heart hill vineyard

Twisted Spur is an unrestricted blend built from the most exceptional fruit from Heart Hill Vineyard each vintage. In the nearly perfect 2018 vintage, that was Petit Verdot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our hillside planted to Petit Verdot ripened beautifully and gave us a wine with dark fruit and floral, violet flavors. By blending with our dense Syrah and robust Cabernet Sauvignon we crafted a wine built to age. Aged 29 months in 60% new French Oak barrels, this wine has layers of flavor, ample tannins and high acidity. Early Maturity - decant to drink now or hold to age for 10+ years.

2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

2018 reserve Cabernet sauvignon, Bootjack Ranch

One particular hillside of Cabernet Sauvignon at Bootjack has a reputation for producing remarkable grapes that yield a wine with full fruit flavors and plush tannins. This Reserve bottling is built to feature that natural brilliance. In 2018 we hand-harvested the grapes and fermented them in a stainless steel tank for nearly 25 days. We opted to use only free-run juice in this wine, keeping the natural beauty and finesse from the vineyard. This decision produced less wine, but of a higher quality. We selected 18 of our best French Oak barrels to age it in for 19 months before bottling. Early Maturity - decant to drink now or age 5+ years.

2017 Fog Catcher Bottle Shot

2017 Fog Catcher

Fog Catcher is our flagship blend, made from the best Bordeaux grapes each vintage. In 2017, early season rains ended drought conditions and produced vigorous canopy growth. Dual heat waves in late summer dried out portions of our clusters and led to lower than average yields. A combination of hand-picking and sorting removed the dried out portions, and the fruit we brought into the winery was absolutely beautiful. Aged 29 months in 85% new French Oak barrels.
